Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Gramin: Indian government has all set to launch Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Gramin for fulfilling the need of poor people. Pradhan Mantri Narendra Modi will start the scheme in Agra (Uttar Pradesh) on 20 November 2016.

Change in the Name of Housing Scheme

Indira Awas Yojana was launched in UPA government which has been changed by Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin with the target to provide housing for all by 2022. Under the scheme, 1 crore houses to be built in three years from financial year 2016-17 to 2018-19.

Target of 6 Crore Houses

According to the source, the government has target to construct around 6 crore houses under Housing for All by 2022 Scheme. Of total 2 crore to be built in Urban area and remaining 4 crore will constructed in Rural area. However the government has not made any road map for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.

Applications for houses under PM Awas Yojana-Rural will be available only through online mode. The government has created around 60,000 Common Service Centers (CSC) for Online Application of PM Awas Yojana. Per application form filling Cost is Rs. 25/-.

For the tracking of constructing process of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the government is using Gio tagging Technique. The techniques will help the government to check the construction of houses, whether the construction process is started on not and if started then how much the work is completed.
